Pricing Manager – Trading and Optimisation

RAC have a fantastic opportunity to appoint a new Pricing Manager to support the Lead Trading and Optimisation Manager who can take care of our Insurance Trade and Optimisation team at our Bristol Offices located in Bradley Stoke near to the M4 and M5 motorways.  This is a permanent position based on a  hybrid working model based 2 days working from the office and 3 days from home, so you must be in a commutable distance to our Bristol site.

You will be joining a dynamic team who are responsible for development and management of the commission, optimisation, pricing and utilising market leading analytics to manage the trading performance of our personal lines products.  We offer an exciting and fast-paced environment so the Pricing Manager we are looking for will need to confidently push the boundaries of the pricing capability.  You will need strong attention to detail ensuring accuracy of the pricing models within a highly competitive market, set against a background of changing social, legal and economic pressures, with an emergence of new risk scenarios to achieve ambitious growth targets in order to maintain the RAC’s competitive position of insurer of choice.

Key accountabilities include

The RAC need a candidate who is ambitious to learn new skills and would be comfortable to step up and deputise for Lead Trading and Optimisation Manager where required.  This Partnership will be key to success as you will be jointly accountable for the development of the RAC financial plans.

As Pricing Manager, you will provide a proactive support for the smooth running of the Insurance Trade and Optimisation team for delivery of the RAC Pricing commitments.  It will be fundamental for you to establish and maintain key relationships with not only members of Our Insurance Trade and Optimisation team but other internal stakeholders within Finance and Marketing in conjunction with third party relationships (Junction, Lexis Nexis, Credit agencies, DVLA, Aggregators). 

Success in the role as Pricing Manager will be measured against the following areas:

  1. Financial plan delivery supported.
  2. GWP, conversion, Retention Rate, IPU targets met,
  3. Retention rates increased
  4. Policy count increased
  5. RAC margins maintained
  6. RAC perceived by others as market leader
  7. Business and Compliance Risks managed within agreed appetite
  8. Compliance with all appropriate company Policies ensuring appropriate signoffs achieved through the Pricing & Product Forum, RAC Exec Board.

Qualifications

We are looking to add to our team a highly motivated and experienced Pricing Manager having previously worked in relevant field (such as Finance, Insurance, Banking etc.) with knowledge of Data Science techniques.

  • Do you have excellent technical knowledge of pricing and analytical techniques?
  • Consider yourself highly numerate with strong analytical & problem-solving skills?
  • Possess an understanding of risk underwriting and risk-based pricing of insurance products?

Our newly appointed Pricing Manger for the Insurance Trade and Optimisation team will be required to demonstrate the following personal attributes:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build relationships and trust
  • Great organisation and planning skills
  • Able to juggle competing priorities

Pricing Manager candidates will be favoured if they meet the below criteria:

  1. Hold a relevant numerate post degree qualification – desirable to be progressing towards relevant professional qualification e.g. CII,MBA, FIA.
  2. Has extensive software skills: Notably, Excel, SQL/SAS, WTW Radar / Earnix, R, Python
