About the Role

As a key member of our People Shared Services Team, the People & Payroll Administrator is at the heart of our people operations, supporting the entire colleague lifecycle. From new starters to leavers—and every milestone in between—you’ll deliver a high-quality, consistent service across our field-based, contact centre, and head office teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & HR Data:

  • Process permanent People data changes including starters, leavers, transfers, and company updates in the HRIS.
  • Draft and issue documentation for contractual changes and leavers.
  • Collate, check, and validate payroll data—spot anomalies and escalate where needed.
  • Liaise with payroll providers to ensure accurate monthly submissions.

Advice & Guidance:

  • Provide first-line support to employees and line managers on everyday People queries.
  • Act as a key contact for self-service (myView) issues.
  • Ensure all data is accurate, up-to-date, and GDPR-compliant.

Admin & Lifecycle Support:

  • Manage the day-to-day People admin, including statutory deductions and contract updates.
  • Respond to reference requests (employment, financial, SAR).
  • Support with system improvements and process development initiatives.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong People administration experience, ideally in a shared services or high-volume environment.
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes and systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a natural ability to build relationships.
  • Superb attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Mail Merge).
  • Friendly, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Confidence in managing confidential data in line with GDPR.

 

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C minimum)
  • People/ Payroll experience is highly desirable
  • A-Levels or equivalent (desirable)
  • CIPD or CIPP qualification (advantageous)
  • Experience with diverse workforces and varying terms and conditions
